Dave D'Angelo
Co-Owner, CrossFit Certified Level 1 & Kettlebell Instructor
Dave D’Angelo found the Crossfit site on the web one day and immediately decided it was something he wanted to try out. He got a few friends together and put together his first workout. It was a big hit.
The workout groups kept growing, people were having fun and seeing results. What began in his backyard and garage rapidly expanded.
In March 2008 Dave became a Crossfit Level One Instructor/Trainer and in Oct. 2009 received certification for kettlebell training.
It was always his dream to open a gym of his own, and in the fall of 2009 Lamorinda CrossFit opened in Lafayette, CA.
Luca Zanet
Co-Owner, CrossFit Certified Level 1 & 2 Trainer,
USAW Certified Sports Performance Coach, Certified Olympic Lifts Trainer
Luca started his fitness training in Italy with competitive swimming in his teen age years but got tired of it and switched to rugby at 17. He played in the under 18 league, then in the first division for a total of three seasons. But as he got into the world of work, he had to let rugby go.
Luca started regular weight training and cardio just to stay in shape. He moved to San Francisco and at age 27 and started training in Muay-Thai under Daniel Docto at Concord Kickboxing Club (C.K.C.) in Concord, CA. He competed in some "smoker" fights, trained fighters and taught kids classes for about three years.
When C.K.C. closed in 2004, after 11 years, Luca went to train in San Francisco at the Fairtex gym and sometime later at Gracie in Pleasant Hill. Thanks to his trainer, Luca was introduced to CrossFit in 2006 as a trainer conditioning routine and got hooked right away. He became certified as a Level I & II CrossFit instructor. The rest is history...
Anni Watson
Co-Owner, Administration & Membership
Anni was first introduced to CrossFit by Dave D'Angelo in 2009. She had been working out regularly but was bored with all the workout programs she tried and knew she didn't want to be a slave to the treadmill.
After her first workout with CrossFit, she knew it was for her! The intensity drew her in and made her excited! The design of the workouts fit her busy schedule, and the community and working out as a group kept her coming back.
Anni was finishing up her last semester of school and wanted to open her own business. With the money left to her by her brother, Gabe, a soldier who was killed in Afghanistan in 2008, she felt as thought CrossFit would be a perfect business. She has always wanted to be fit, and she also wanted to do something that would honor her brother. Gabe loved body building, fitness, martial arts, being strong and keeping his body healthy. He would have loved CrossFit!
She knew that Dave dreamt of opening a CrossFit Gym and when she presented the idea of partnering with him they both knew it was a good fit. Dave was so excited! They opened the gym in Lafayette in November 2009.
